Growing up with parents who are both financial advisors, Mary was exposed to the financial world at an early age. Her interest in the industry began as a college student helping her parents around the office. She grew to know their clients personally and understand the basics of how their practice operated.

Mary initially pursued a career as an educator, earning a Master in Biology Education from Converse College and taught at Polk County Early College and Dorman High School as a Student Teacher. She was ultimately drawn to the idea of using her teaching background to help make investing – a foreign and confusing concept for many people – relatable and understandable.

In 2014, Mary joined her parents’ practice. It turned out to be the perfect fit. After six months, both she and her parents knew that there was so much potential for growth, and Freehold Wealth Management has organically evolved from there.

Mary and her husband, Mac, have two children, Neville and Amelia, and an English Cocker Spaniel, Nile. Having grown up riding horses and competing at the Grand Prix Level in show jumping, Mary enjoys nothing more than making a connection as a rider with a horse. Most weekends, you can find her and her family enjoying the outdoors, hiking, gardening, swimming, biking, and exploring their surrounding area.

When Cindy began her investment industry career in 1977, her class in Merrill Lynch’s training program was just the second to allow women. Today, she serves as President of Freehold Wealth Management and is incredibly proud to share a business with her husband of more than 40 years and their youngest daughter.

With a focus on helping physicians and other medical professionals, Cindy offers comprehensive wealth management services, including retirement planning strategies, elder care planning, and end of life planning. Her investment philosophy is simple: Never invest in something you don’t understand.

Cindy recognizes that getting to know her clients plays a key role in her ability to deliver outstanding service. As such, she takes the time to learn about their aspirations in life, the legacy they’d like to leave for their children and grandchildren, their charitable interests, family health history, and more.

Cindy has deep roots in the Upcountry region – The New York Times bestseller The Summer Guests by Mary Alice Monroe is loosely based on her family and their farm. She is an avid tennis player, a voracious reader, a supporter of various charities, including the U.S. Paralympic Dressage Team, and a lifelong fox hunter.

Calling on his 40-plus years of investment industry experience, John handles the supervisory responsibilities for Freehold Wealth Management and has guided the team through numerous tumultuous market cycles with a sterling supervisory record.  In addition, he co-manages several of the team’s client accounts. 

John’s name is synonymous with public service and stewardship.  He has a long history of supporting organizations such as the Foothills Equestrian Nature Center (FENCE), the Tryon Riding and Hunt Club, the Blue Ridge Hunter Jumper Association, the United States Equestrian Federation Hunter Jumper Shows, and the Pacolet Area Conservancy, in addition to serving as a board member and past president of the Golden Hills Homeowner Association.
